“Let Learning Enrich Our Lives”

Hello all U3A members.

Autumn is such a lovely time of the year for sitting in the sun reading a book, or gardening or picnicking in the park or just keeping in touch with each other.

These are difficult times due to the pandemic, we all have to play our part in keeping every one safe and healthy.

It is with regret that we have to cancel all U3A activities and tours for the time being. In the future we will BOUNCE BACK, with all the programmes in full swing and tours will have to be re-negotiated.

Good health and happiness, and take care.

Cheers for now, your President

Evelyn

Some good news in this time of not-so-good news. Jane is back on deck, keeping up her exercise programme and showing great progress. Sadly we have not such good news of Anne Hodges, who is not at all well. Let’s send her a collective Forbes Seniors best wishes, and hopes for a speedy recovery.   Elaine and Barbara were prepared to step in and keep Singers going while Anne is not available, but that is no longer an option as Singers, and all other planned activities have had to be postponed until further notice.

It is such a shame that we have had to cancel so many things, as those which had started – Cooking for One, Watercolours, and “Not-so-Famous” Australians were very much enjoyed by the participants.

There is so much information in the media about Coronavirus that it can be quite confusing. If anyone has any concerns, the best advice seems to be to phone the National Coronavirus Hotline 1800 020 080, or your G.P. We are so fortunate to be living in Australia, which has one of the best health systems in the world. If we all stay calm and follow the advice on protecting ourselves and others, we will get through this. It might take a while, but we can do it. We just need to take gentle care of ourselves and others.

Keeping as physically active as we can is recommended by the experts – for both our physical and mental well-being. The DVD “Balance and Bones” some of us purchased a couple of years ago, is still available. The programme has been designed especially for older people and is suitable for all levels of fitness. DVDs are $25.00 including postage. Payment can be made by cheque or online. To order contact Ainslie Lamb, email address: ainslie2518@gmail.com
